Tomorrow starts the new path to greatness.

I have recently been struggling with Depression and mania. It is something I have always had but I have recently become worse by leaps and bounds. I was doing great in my manic phase but once I hit my depression I fell off the bandwagon. I have been to see a doctor and am taking steps to equalize myself and now that that has had a time to set in and start working, I am feeling more and more like I am inspired to do, create, live, experience and be fit. So tomorrow when I get up I will be riding first thing. Back to the old system and back to a healthy diet. Wish me luck!

Soma (Super) Everwear Tires (2011) Review

Towards the end of last year, 2011, I wanted to add a little color to my bike and also add size to the tires because the 700x23c tires I was riding just didn't feel too terribly safe, especially since I am a bigger guy. I decided to kill two birds with one stone and get some colored tires. The options for wider tires with color options is slim, although now more manufacturers are definitely jumping on the bandwagon, and the options for skid resistant tires was even slimmer. My options were to go with Soma or Fyxation. I had hear numerous rumors around that Fyxation tires are not what they make themselves out to be, but I didn't know anyone who had ridden on Somas. I took the risk to try them out and let me tell you, it was a great decision! The Soma Super Everwears boasts superior casings that offer a stiffened sidewall and super puncture resistance. Still offers all the benefits of 'normal' Everwear tires: designed to offer double or even triple the mileage of the average racing tire. Features a wear indicator under the extra thick, 5mm, long lasting carbon rubber tread Great for any situation that calls for a super high mileage and super puncture resistance. Street/track riding, skidding and distance touring In the nine months since I bought these and had them on my bike, I have ridden over 1500 miles and skid stopped more than 1000 times. And I'm not talking about a little, low speed, short distance skid. I have dragged these tires for more than 50 feet, around corners, on wet and dry surfaces, concrete, pavement, gravel, dirt, grass and probably more that I'm not even thinking about. I've ridden in the rain freezing temperatures and in 110 degree weather, I've jumped my bike, ridden stairs, hopped curbs, and even ridden through broken glass (accidentally) and I haven't had a single flat or puncture. My rear tire has worn very evenly and until about two weeks or approx 200mi ago had no signs of an end in sight, but alas, the end has come indeed. After seeing the wear indicator creeping out from beneath the ever so amazing treads, I kept pushing the limits of the tire and just the other day, while pulling a 30ft skid stop the tire went from skidding to grating as I finally wore through the inner rubber and hit the bead. I was still able to painlessly ride the few miles home without incident and I could probably put another 50-100 miles on the tire before really risking a flat but I ordered my new Everwear and I'll be installing it as soon as it comes in. With everything said and done, at the end of the day, Soma makes one badass tire.

New years update

So I hit my goal of 1000mi in 2011. I also came very close to my goal of 500mi in 30 days attaining a total of 480mi but due to a knee issue I sat out the last few days I had available to make it. Considering that I only rode a total of 18 days in the 30 day period however, I think that I'll have no problem hitting that goal as well as making my next few goals for 2012.

Ride 1000mi in 100 days.
Ride 3000mi in 2012.
Ride 500mi in 30 days.

I will meet these goals and fine new ones to meet as well...
